Laundromat data sources
Every listing begins with Overture Maps Places, release 2026-08-19.0, accessed 2026-09-19. Overture is an open place dataset published under the Open Database License by a foundation whose members include Meta, Microsoft, Amazon and TomTom.
We take the records whose primary category is laundromat or laundry_services, in the United States, that have a name, a city and a valid state. 24,566 records survive that filter, in 7,232 cities across 52 states and territories. 20,547 are categorised as self-service laundromats; the rest are drop-off or wash-and-fold services, and the listing says which.
What we drop, and why
Records with no name, no city, or a county or parish name sitting in the state field are not published — a broken address makes a broken page. Exact duplicates on name, street and city are collapsed, keeping the highest-confidence record. Two shops with the same name but different streets are both kept, because chains really do have several locations in one town.
What the data does not include
Prices, machine sizes, payment methods and whether an attendant is on duty are all absent from both sources. Those details decide a trip, which is why listings point you at a phone number and the guides carry national price ranges rather than per-shop claims.
Opening hours, and their limits
Hours come from OpenStreetMap, which is also ODbL. An OSM record is matched to a listing only when the two are within 150 metres of each other and either almost touching or carrying a similar name. Volunteers have tagged hours for a minority of US laundries, so most listings show none — and a page with no hours says exactly that rather than inventing any. Where a business is recorded as open around the clock, the page says so and the city page collects them together.

Where do the opening hours come from?
OpenStreetMap, where volunteers tag opening_hours on laundry businesses. Overture Maps Places carries no hours field at all, so this is a second, separate source, matched to a listing only when the two records are within 150 metres and the names agree. Most listings have no hours recorded by anyone, and those pages say so rather than guessing.
Are all of these laundromats still open?
Not necessarily. Small businesses open and close constantly, and an open dataset always lags. Listings are refreshed on a cycle, and a correction sent through the contact page is actioned faster than the next refresh.
Do you copy reviews or ratings from Google?
No. No ratings, no reviews, no photos and no descriptions are taken from Google Maps or any other review platform.
Can I reuse this data?
The underlying place data is Overture Maps Foundation, licensed under the ODbL, so it carries share-alike obligations. The page text and structure on this site are ours.
